(KNSI) – A Winsted man was seriously burned over a significant amount of his body Thursday afternoon.
The 53-year-old was helping family with outdoor yard cleanup in Dassel Township. He tried to use a gasoline-type accelerant to start a brush pile on fire. The flames came back on the man, leading to severe burns on his skin.
The incident happened about 12:45 p.m. The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office responded, along with Dassel Fire and Rescue, Lifelink III, and Mayo Ambulance. The man was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment.
His condition is not known. The sheriff’s office says the incident was an accident.
