(KNSI) – St. Cloud has approved plans to turn a building at 1010 Park into a Community Outpost.

The city council gave a thumbs up to using a $475,000 grant from the Department of Justice and $430,000 from St. Cloud’s voter-approved park levy funds. The facility will operate programs that cater to families in the Promise Neighborhood. The non-profit has been providing academic programs for youth and resources for adults for years in that space. They will remain in the building.

The facility used to house a Head Start program and is need of revovations to make it usable as a COP House.

Out of that $900,000, around $735,000 will be spent on the project. Other park improvements include a splash pad.
