(KNSI) – A technical issue is leading callers to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office and the Sauk Rapids Police Department non-emergency lines to think they can’t get through.
Sheriff Troy Heck says when operators answer the phone, callers will hear dial tones and then a series of clicks that sound like it disconnected. Staff can talk to the caller after the noises cycle through, followed by a silence that lasts between one and five seconds.
The issue is not affecting emergency 911 calls. It is only is a problem if you are trying to dial 320-968-7201 (the sheriff’s office) or 320-251-9451 (SRPD). Technicians are actively trying to resolve the issue but no timeline for a fix has been announced.
