(KNSI) – The National Weather Service Forecast Office in Chanhassen says a 109-year-old record was tied Tuesday after the official high temperature of 61.

St. Cloud hit 61 just before 3:00 Tuesday afternoon. The old record, also 61, was set in 1911.

According to the record books, the National Weather Service’s Twin Cities and Eau Claire, Wisconsin recording sites broke their records Tuesday. The Twin Cities hit 63 at 3:15 Tuesday afternoon, breaking the old record of 61 set in 1878 and tied in 1879. Eau Claire smashed its old record of 58 after hitting 67 Tuesday afternoon. The old record was set in 1902.

Things will be very different today, however.

A spring storm system bisecting the state will bring measurable snowfall along and north of a line from Madison, to just northwest of Willmar, through Todd and Morrison Counties over toward Mora and Duluth.

A wind advisory is in place for the southern and eastern Twin Cities, where they’re expecting showers, thunderstorms, and even an isolated tornado not out of the question today.
