(KNSI) — The Stearns County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the drowning of a 17-year-old at Quarry Park and Nature Preserve Tuesday afternoon.
According to a press release, just after 4:15, a 911 call came in saying the teen jumped into the water from a ten foot high cliff at Quarry 11 and didn’t resurface. Witnesses went in after him, but couldn’t find him.
The Stearns/Benton Dive Team, Waite Park and the St. Cloud Fire Departments deployed boats and started searching for the boy. His body was found around 8:45 p.m. in 31 feet of water.
