(KNSI) – East St. Germain Street in St. Cloud has a new look from Veterans Bridge to near Iron Street Distillery.
Parallel parking now lines the north side of the road, changing the configuration from two lanes of traffic in each direction to a single lane plus a permanent left-hand turn lane. Crews spent June installing new stoplights to match the road design.
The work was done in tandem with the rehabilitation of Veterans Bridge, which connects East St. Germain to 1st Street North. That has not quite wrapped up yet, so the bridge is down to a single lane in each direction until late July.
The work on East St. Germain was approved last year by the St. Cloud City Council. It built on recommendations made during the downtown summit in December 2022. The cost is roughly $75,000.
