(KNSI) – A man was taken to jail after allegedly shooting a gun while under the influence in Sauk Rapids.
Police were called around 11:20 on Monday night on a report of several shots fired in the 3400 block of Old Creek Place.
Witnesses saw a man shooting a gun in an undeveloped area of the neighborhood.
While officers were trying to find the suspect, a 39-year-old Sauk Rapids man approached them and was arrested. A handgun and large-capacity magazine were collected as evidence.
The man was being held on suspicion of felony negligent discharge of a firearm in a municipality and misdemeanor carrying a firearm while under the influence.
Police say no one was hurt, and no property was damaged.
The suspect was booked into the Benton County Jail and is awaiting formal charges.
