(KNSI) – The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office says two people are OK after the truck they were in broke through thin ice on Big Swan Lake.
Officials say 82-year-old Kouthong Vixayvong was driving on the lake to fish when his vehicle went through the ice. Both he and his passenger, 76-year-old Somphong Phomsamouth, were able to escape before the truck became fully submerged. The two also made it to the landing without getting hurt. The sheriff’s office says there are thin ice warning signs at the landing.
Officials say due to our recent stretch of warm weather, ice conditions have deteriorated rapidly, and vehicle use of any kind is discouraged.
