(KNSI) – A local youth group will look for mentors at Friday’s concert at The Ledge Amphitheater.
The Waite Park entertainment venue is partnering with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota as their feature nonprofit during the Dark Star Orchestra concert. The organization is looking for more mentors to guide area youth.
According to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the mentoring program lets kids find positive people to look up to and opens up doors of possibility. Organizers say the benefits of mentors include helping prevent early drug use, encouraging teens to be college- and career-ready, and promoting positive mental health outcomes. They say kids in youth mentoring programs are more than 50% less likely to skip school.
In an effort to give back to the community, The Ledge is inviting a nonprofit to every concert this season.
