(KNSI) – Three days after taking down the top overall seed in Class AA, the Foley High School Varsity Baseball Team plays for a state championship.

Standing between the Falcons and a title is two-seed Rockford. The Rockets enter the game at 25-5. They advanced Friday with a 7-3 win over Le Sueur-Henderson.

Foley blanked Esko in the first semifinal, riding early offensive momentum to a wire-to-wire victory. The Falcons got two in the first frame and another in the third. They managed an insurance run in the sixth inning.

Foley is 23-4 and has not lost since May 16th, a 2-1 decision against Holdingford. They escaped the always-tough 6AA section tournament unscathed, beating Osakis, Melrose, Pierz, and Albany twice.

They faced a scare Thursday in the state quarterfinal round but were able to push across three runs in the bottom of the seventh against Zumbrota-Mazeppa to walk it off.

First pitch in the championship game is at 1:00 p.m. at Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins. The first two rounds of the Class AA tournament were held at Dick Putz Field in St. Cloud.
