(KNSI) – A teenager was airlifted to Minnesota Children’s Hospital Sunday afternoon after nearly drowning in the Crow River just outside Hanover.
A mother and her two children took a combination of paddle boards and a kayak out onto the water just before 1:15. They became tangled up in tree branches hanging out over the river and were knocked off their equipment.
The mother and teenage boy were able to free themselves but the girl became stuck and was pulled under the water. Her father was eventually able to get her to shore, where she received CPR from Wright County Sheriff’s deputies and paramedics.
First responders were able to revive the girl enough to get a pulse. She was rushed to the hospital and is still in critical condition. The girl did have a life jacket on at the time of the incident.
The situation is still under investigation.
