(KNSI) – More than 100 St. Cloud businesses are getting $10,000 grants through the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development’s small business grant program aimed at keeping those businesses afloat through the pandemic.
Of the 101 St. Cloud businesses that are receiving grants, 68 of them are micro businesses that have six or fewer employees. Women own 32 of the 101 businesses, and 38 are BIPOC-owned. Six are veteran-owned.
A wide variety of businesses are getting the grants, from gyms like Burn and Build Fitness to gift shops like Copper Pony and from restaurants like Mexican Village to body art businesses like Wingnut Tattoo and Piercing.
Across the state, 6,151 businesses are earning more than $61 million through the grant program. About 70 percent are micro businesses. A total of 442 businesses in Stearns, Sherburne, Benton, Wright and Morrison counties are on the grant recipient list.
