(KNSI) – Becker Freedom Days is putting the spotlight on those who keep the community safe this year.
The festival will host a Salute to First Responders party for the first time. Freedom Days Board Member Kat feels no one deserves the recognition more. “This is to say thank you to all of the amazing people who are always first on the scene, who never run away from the action, and who are always there to help.”
Also new this year is the Becker Sings contest. Organizers are still taking applications. Competitors must be at least 13 years old. The winner will get a cash prize, and a ticket to watch the past 10 winners of Minnesota Sings at a special event.
Kat told KNSI News her favorite thing about the event: “What I love about it is that there’s something for everybody. There’s something for everyone in the whole family to enjoy all week long.”
Another big announcement is a former star of “The Bachelor,” and Becker native, Daisy Kent, will be the grand Marshal for the parade. Behind her, in the Becker Proud car, will be legendary Becker High School Football Coach Dwight Lundeen. He’s the second-winningest coach in state history and has been at the helm for 54 years.
The week-long summer celebration is June 9th through the 16th, featuring nearly 20 events.

Sunday – Father’s Day Photo Contest and BBQ Competition

Tuesday – Free Community Lunch
