(KNSI) – The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office says a Bowlus man is dead after the ATV he was driving was struck by a truck.
The accident happened Sunday afternoon at about 1:20 near Upsala. A Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 30-year-old woman crashed into the off-road vehicle with 55-year-old Terry Theis behind the wheel at the intersection of 30th Street and 60th Avenue.
A release from the sheriff says an investigation shows Theis went through the stop sign, and the pickup truck couldn’t avoid the collision. The Minnesota State Patrol, Life Link III, Mayo Ambulance, the Upsala First Response Team, and the Upsala Fire Department assisted at the scene.
Sheriff Shawn Larsen reminds drivers to slow down and avoid distractions in the summer. He says safety needs to be everyone’s priority, especially with recreational vehicles and motorcycles increasingly on the road in the warm weather.
