Best Buy Tech Center Debuts Tuesday At Southside Boys and Girls Club

(KNSI) – The finishing touches have been applied to a new tech hub inside the Southside Boys and Girls Club of Central Minnesota location.

In partnership with the Best Buy Foundation, the St. Cloud site will now feature over 1,300 square feet divided into stations, offering a glimpse into a wide range of potential skills and careers in technology. Members can step inside a recording studio or learn to DJ, log onto computers with professional-grade applications, dig into robotics and coding, and take an interest in 3D printing or more traditional embroidery and button-making.

Best Buy has helped install similar hubs at clubs across the country, including ten in Minnesota. The public will get its first chance to check out the tech space during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.

The St. Cloud Chamber of Commerce will lead tours and demonstrations of the teen tech center. Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota CEO Mary Swingle says the space is jaw-dropping.

“By partnering with the Best Buy Foundation for this incredible technology center, we are able to offer teens exciting new opportunities and experiences in technology that will help them build valuable skills and determine if a career in technology is in their future.”
