(KNSI) – It’s confirmed: People love McDonald’s Shamrock Shakes and Oreo Shamrock McFlurries.
The restaurant’s co-op in Minnesota, along with portions of Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, took advantage with its ShamROCK The House! fundraiser. Over $63,500 was raised to benefit six Ronald McDonald House locations.
The initiative pledged 25 cents from each order of the desserts between March 7th and 17th to the charity. That means participating locations whipped up 254,048 of the treats in only a week and a half.
The haul means that $901,000 has been raised since the first Shamrock Shake event 11 years ago. McDonald’s Minnesota Co-Op President Melissa Kennedy says, “Our owner/operators are proud to support Ronald McDonald House Charities here in Minnesota, where families stay together when it matters most.”
Minnesota Ronald McDonald House locations include Duluth, Rochester, and the Twin Cities. Each site provides meals, laundry, and a place to stay for families near where their child is being treated. Many live hundreds of miles from a pediatric hospital.
