Sartell High School Funfest Will Feature Plenty of Clowning Around

(KNSI) – With a name like Funfest, you know it will be a good time. However, when the doors to the Sartell High School gymnasium are thrown open on Saturday, all the smiles and enjoyment will come with a deeper meaning.

The student council and National Honor Society host carnival games and a silent auction. Advisor Karrie Fredrickson oversees both groups. She says net proceeds will help a local cancer warrior’s dream come true.

“His name is Beckett, and he’s from St Cloud. He’s ten years old, and he has cancer, and his make-a-wish is that he wants to go to Alaska to fish.”

Last year, the event raised roughly $5,400. It also features a nine-hole mini golf course, face painting, and a bounce house. Admission is free.

Silent auction baskets are still being put together.

Fredrickson says it’s probably the high schoolers who end up having the real fun. “We’re a district where we’re all in different buildings. And, so, they don’t see little kids very often. Our kids, as soon as these kids that are like 5,6,7 [years old] come in, and they kind of look at them like they’re rock stars, you know, because they’re the big kids and they’re playing with them. They’re all like, oh my gosh, they’re so cute! They just forget, and they just enjoy that interaction.”

Funfest runs from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Admission is free.
