(KNSI) — Another sure sign of spring: The City of St. Cloud is resuming yard waste collections.

Starting Monday, April 8th, garbage and recycling customers can put their yard waste in 30-gallon, city-sold, specially marked bags and left at the curb for pickup. That includes grass clippings, leaves, pine cones, pine needles, pumpkins, acorns, apples, and small twigs no bigger in diameter or length than a pencil.

Food scraps, animal feces, styrofoam, and other contaminants are not allowed in yard waste bags.

Bags must be knotted shut, placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m., and weigh no more than 40 pounds. Untied, overfilled bags won’t be picked up. Zip ties, bread ties, string, etc., cannot be used.

Yard waste bags are clear compostable bags with the city logo imprinted on them. No bags other than specially marked city bags will be picked up.

The cost is $1.50 per bag or $15.00 per package if sold in quantities of ten. Officials ask residents to only buy bags as needed as they are compostable and have a shorter shelf life.

Pickups are on Mondays and end on November 25th. There is no pickup on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27th, or Labor Day, Monday, September 2nd.
