(KNSI) – The maple syrup tours scheduled for this Sunday at Wildwood Ranch in St. Joseph have been canceled.
Snow is forecast, ending plans for four separate hour-long open houses. Guests would have been taken through the sugar shack to see how the sap is turned into sweet syrup. Visitors were expected to be able to walk out to the groves of trees to learn about methods used to tap and collect the sap.
The ranch is located inside Kraemer Lake-Wildwood County Park, which is open to the public year-round. The facility sits next to trails used by hikers, skiers, and snowshoers, depending on the season. They are welcome to stop by and learn more about the maple syrup process.
So, in some ways, the canceled tours are a drop in the bucket when considering the annual visitors to Wildwood Ranch. It’s one of the highest-quality syrup producers in the state, taking home “Best in Show” at last year’s Great Minnesota Get-Together.
