(KNSI) – The state of Minnesota will open a fourth large-scale, permanent COVID-19 community vaccination clinic in the Mall of America.
In a press release, Gov. Tim Walz’s office says the vaccination site in the Bloomington mall will vaccinate more than 8,000 school staff and child care workers in its first week.
“We’re continuing to build a reliable network of options for Minnesotans to access the vaccine,” Walz said. “Just as Minnesota remains a leader in testing, so too are we setting the tone in community vaccination. We will continue to expand access until every Minnesotan has the opportunity to receive the vaccine, regardless of where they live.”
The Mall of America site joins the state’s other big vaccination clinics in Duluth, Minneapolis and Rochester. Pharmacy, public health and private health partners across the state are also administering vaccines to the current priority groups: long-term care residents and staff, frontline healthcare workers, preK-12 educators and school staff, child care employees and Minnesotans age 65 and older. As of Monday, more than 770,000 people have received at least their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
