(KNSI) — Becker’s annual summer festival has grown from just a few days over a weekend into a full, weeklong celebration.
Becker Freedom Days 2024 is set for June 9th through the 16th.
Board Chair Mary Claire Langley explained to KNSI News they’re trying to move towards a more community-minded event.
Everything starts that Sunday with the Boy Scout BBQ Contest. A Father’s Day Photo Contest takes place all week long. Langley says a new addition to the fun on Wednesday is called Becker Sings, “Which is a division of Minnesota sings. So we’re going to have two winners. We’ll have two age groups, 13 to 20 and then 21 plus, and we’ll have cash prizes. And then each winner gets a ticket to go watch Minnesota Sings which is going to be downtown St. Cloud in October.”
Friday is the Farmers Market and bounce houses. Then, the classic car show. Saturday is the big extravaganza with the parade, music, entertainment, and fireworks.
Langley says more events will be added in the coming weeks, and she is excited for the festival’s future. “Becker Freedom Days is growing and only has more room to grow. And we are excited, already, about things that are set for next year.”
