(KNSI) — The Powder Ridge Ski Area in Kimball is closed today.

In an email to KNSI News, the operators say they are trying to preserve the snowpack. There is a chance for a delayed opening Friday. They ask guests to check their social media pages and website before getting in the car to take to the runs.

They say the silver lining on these rain clouds is that the overnight lows are set to go back down into the 30s tonight, and temps will stay there. Powder Ridge says to “hang on tight and know that we’re ready to sprinkle the slopes with fresh flake as soon as Mother Nature gives us the green light.”

The forecast now shows the rain ending for Kimball on Thursday evening and then a low around 30. Friday calls for clouds and 32 and dipping into the low 20s overnight. Saturday and Sunday are excellent days to buckle up the bindings, with partial sunshine and highs in the low 30s.
