(KNSI) — The main building at a wildly popular North Shore destination resort has been destroyed by fire.

A massive blaze at the Lutsen Resort Lodge was reported around 12:30 Tuesday morning. When crews arrived, staff told authorities that smoke could be seen coming from the floor in the lobby, and the building went up shortly thereafter.

The Lutsen, Tofte, Grand Marais, Grand Portage, Silver Bay, Maple Hill, Finland, and the Gunflint Fire departments all responded to the scene along with the Tofte First Responders and the Cook County Sheriff’s Department.

A Facebook post says the building is a total loss.

According to authorities, no guests were on site, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
