(KNSI) — Wednesday was one for the record books as the high temperature in St. Cloud shattered the previous mark.
The National Weather Service says the St. Cloud Regional Airport reading hit 55 degrees at 2:53 p.m., beating the old high of 46 set in 1993. The other two climate sites overseen by the Chanhassen office also saw record readings as the Twin Cities reached 55, breaking the record of 46 set in 1995. Eau Claire topped out at 52, breaking the record of 47 set in 1952.
As warm as it was, that’s not the warmest day ever in January. The warmest was when the mercury reached 56 which happened twice in January of 1981.
The historical average high this time of the year is around 22, and we’ll be well above that for the next several days as highs will be in the 40s through at least midweek next week.
