(KNSI) – The 60th Minnesota Teacher of the Year will come from a pool of 158 potential candidates.
The slate was announced Friday afternoon and is the third-largest group this century. Nominees are selected from preschool through 12th grade. A panel of business, charity, education, and politics leaders will choose semifinalists in the coming weeks, and finalists will be named in March.
The Minnesota Teacher of the Year will be announced on May 5th in St. Paul. Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, Kimball St. Cloud, Sartell-St. Stephen, and Sauk Rapids-Rice all have at least one person in the running.

Holli Sauerer, Kimball Area Public Schools
Nicole Fuechtmann, Sartell-St. Stephen Schools (originally listed as Sauk Rapids-Rice)
Aaron Johnson, Sauk Rapids-Rice Public Schools
Rachel Mehrwerth, Sauk Rapids-Rice Public Schools
Devon Bowker, St. Cloud Area Schools
Angela Haus, St. Cloud Area Schools
Jean Voigt, St. Cloud Area Schools
The award is sponsored by Education Minnesota, the public teachers union.
