(KNSI) — An event is set for next month to get young women interested and excited in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
It’s called Tech Savvy, and it’s coming up on Saturday, February 24th, at St. Cloud State University.
The day long conference is for girls in grades five through eight and is organized by the American Association of University Women with SCSU’s College of Science and Engineering. Attendees will take part in four STEM workshops throughout the day.
It’s $10, including workshop materials, lunch, swag, and a raffle ticket for prizes. Girls can also sign up with their friends as a cohort and move through each portion as a group.
The AAUW’s Jen Benson says the partnership is perfect because “Careers in STEM fields require the advanced education SCSU provides. Students need to be introduced to these disciplines in middle school and be excited to see themselves in these fields so they can make the class choices in junior high and high school that prepare them for STEM coursework in college.”
Registration is open now through February 5th by clicking here.
