(KNSI) — A lockdown has been lifted at the University of Minnesota.

According to the Chippewa County Sheriff’s office, the suspect who threatened to “shoot persons” on campus has been “contained. The University may resume normal operations. Police descended on the Twin Cities campus Thursday morning after a “specific threat” from a man who said he wanted to shoot people.

An emergency SafeU alert went out to the entire campus, saying police were teaming up with other agencies to put additional law enforcement personnel in place. An alert that followed the initial announcement said, “All employees deemed non-essential or non-critical” were told to work from home. “Students and all others are to stay clear of campus until the situation is resolved.”
