(KNSI) – Two coaches with St. Cloud State connections helped Team USA win a gold medal at the 2024 World Junior Championships in Sweden.

The Americans beat the host team in the title game Friday afternoon, 6-2, capping a perfect tournament for the red, white, and blue. The University of Minnesota and Bemidji State had players on the roster, with St. Cloud contributing behind the bench.

Huskies men’s head coach Brett Larson is an assistant on David Carle’s staff. Larson has been at SCSU since 2018 and has taken the squad to the national championship game in his tenure. The Huskies are 11-5-2 overall, in first place in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference this year.

Garrett Raboin, the leader for the Augustana Vikings in their first Division I season, is also an assistant coach with SCSU ties. Raboin was a two-time All-WCHA selection and captain of the Huskies his junior and senior years. The team got to the NCAA tournament three times while he wore the red and black.
