(KNSI) – It was a slippery morning on the roads Thursday.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, as of 10:00 a.m., they responded to 113 crashes statewide. Those crashes involve 12 injuries; one of them serious on Highway 169 near Hibbing, but no fatalities. There were an additional 55 spinouts and one jackknifed semi.
Sergeant Jesse Grabow says a state trooper’s squad car was struck from behind on 169 near 394 in Golden Valley. Injuries in that crash are believed not to be life-threatening.
We also received a report of a crash involving a semi on Highway 15 South near 33rd Street in St. Cloud about 10:45 Thursday morning.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation says the light dusting of snow the area has received in the last 24 hours has made road conditions very slick as plows are out, but chemicals to melt snow and ice are less effective at colder temperatures.
