(KNSI) – The St. Cloud State University Men’s Hockey Team starts the second half of the season with a home-and-home series this weekend against Bemidji State.

The Huskies haven’t been on the ice since a two-game set on December 8th and 9th, which they split at Nebraska-Omaha. St. Cloud took game one, but the Mavericks won Saturday night in a shootout.

The Beavers represent a nonconference foe, which has been tough for the Huskies this season. SCSU is only 2-5-1 skating against teams outside of the NCHC. Tonight, they’ll duel at the Sanford Center up north. The series wraps up Sunday afternoon at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.

St. Cloud State holds a four-point lead in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference standings at the break, with a 7-0-1 record. The team is a less impressive, but still solid, 9-5-2 overall. That puts the Huskies right on the cusp of the national tournament at the moment, according to the pairwise rankings.

Bemidji State is in first in the CCHA standings but only 8-10 overall. All Husky games, plus pre and post-game shows, can be heard on KNSI and streamed on the Varsity App.
