(KNSI) — St. Cloud Area AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program has been honored with the Reflection of the Year Award.
The award is given to a person or a group who goes above and beyond to make St. Cloud a wonderful place.
This year marked the St. Cloud Area AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program’s 50th anniversary. In 2023, it offered 120,000 hours of volunteer service to support more than 1,100 older adults. That included positive outcomes for volunteer mental health and well being, and launched a new initiative in partnership with CentraCare’s Bounce Back Project called Happiness in Action. RSVP also led the Age-Fourishing St. Cloud Task Force, which focused on advocacy, health and well-being, transportation, social and community engagement, and housing in the St. Cloud area.
St. Cloud Area AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP is for anyone over 55 who wants to give back to the community. Seniors are matched with time availability, interests, and experience with people throughout Benton, Sherburne, Stearns, and Wright counties. There are 150 community groups they are involved with to offer opportunities to volunteer at the food shelf, listen to a child read or help a senior who is homebound with behind the scenes support.
