(KNSI) — The CPKC Holiday Train will be chugging through central Minnesota Wednesday night.

The train snakes its way across the country to support food banks, raising money and awareness for the work local pantries do in their communities and collecting food for local hungry families.

Decorated with hundreds of thousands of LED lights, the train pulls into each town with professional musicians and Santa Claus on board to play a free concert right from a car that turns into a stage. The group also presents a check for the local food shelf at each stop.

The singers on board are award-winning, multi-platinum-selling Dallas Smith and the chart-topping singer/actress MacKenzie Porter. She is featured on Dustin Lynch’s number one hit “Thinking ‘Bout You.”

December 13th, the rolling party will pull into Annandale around 7:15 p.m. and the music gets going on the west side of downtown park at the Harris Street West crossing about 7:30. From there, it heads to Eden Valley at the State Street railway crossing at State Highway 422. It’s expected to stop at 8:55, and the music will start at 9:00.

Since its inception in 1999, the CPKC Holiday Train has raised more than $22.5 million and more than 5 million pounds of food for community food banks across North America.
