(KNSI) – The City of Waite Park says its Family Fun Fest will be put on hold again for 2021. It was canceled last year due to the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.
The organizers took to Facebook to announce the cancellation, citing continuing restrictions on outdoor events, and are hoping to hold the event in 2022. The dates are set for June 6th through the 10th.
As part of the Stay Safe MN Plan, in social settings, no more than three households may gather outdoors, with a maximum of 15 people, but indoor and outdoor dining venues like bars and restaurants are subject to 50% capacity limits with a maximum of 250 people. Indoor and outdoor events and entertainment are open at 25% capacity with no more than 250 people.
The guidelines for outdoor recreational facilities say, “outdoor recreational facilities that are authorized to be open must develop and implement a COVID-19 Preparedness Plan to manage exposure to the virus.” There are no clear capacity restrictions for spaces the state considers an “outdoor recreational facility.”
Meanwhile, the city of Sauk Rapids says it will hold its annual Rapids River Days celebration with “fingers crossed.” The dates for that celebration are set for June 24th through the 26th.
We have not gotten any information as of yet regarding Summertime by George or the Granite City Days celebrations for St. Cloud.
