(KNSI) — Wannabe drivers looking to do a road test at the Buffalo location in Wright County will have a new facility starting December 18th.
The Driver and Vehicle Services exam station on 1st Avenue South in Buffalo closed on November 28th. The new address is 1006 Commercial Drive in Buffalo.
Knowledge testing, road testing, first time applications and license renewals will also be offered. Commercial road and motorcycle skills testing are available starting in the summer.
Those looking for a road skills test used to be able to book an appointment up to six months in advance, but this past January, those rules changed. Now, appointments are only being taken within a 30 day window. That has led to numerous backups at exam stations in more densely populated areas, with parents telling KNSI they have had to drive 100 miles or more to get their son or daughter in for an appointment.
Some spots are taking names for drivers in waiting in case of a cancellation, but those may be hard to come by due to the backlog.
