(KNSI) – Two central Minnesota brothers might have a future in the X Games.
A press release from District 742 is celebrating the accomplishments of Lucas and Jacob Theisen, who competed in Tulsa, Oklahoma, recently. Lucas won all three events in the Race of Champions, which is invitation-only. It is open to the top 10 riders in each state. Lucas won the class, cruiser and age 11/12 open. Jacob finished third in the class and cruiser races.
The two had a lot of success at the National Finals. They put on a show on their cruiser bikes. They both came first for their age group and are now national champions. Jacob got fifth in the class category, while Lucas was knocked out in the semifinal round. Both were eliminated in the semifinals in the open races.
The different classifications refer to the size of the bikes. Cruisers have 24-inch wheels versus around 20 inches for the class category. BMX stands for bicycle motocross. It has been featured in the X Games and was made an Olympic sport in 2008.
Jacob is the fourth-best racer in the country for any age group. Lucas came in seventh. Jacob is only 13 years old, and Lucas is 11.
Next up is qualifying for the 2024 World Championships, which will be held in South Carolina this year.
