(KNSI) — More than 30 families in the area will have a Thanksgiving meal on their table thanks to the students at St. John’s Prep.
The students in grades 6 through 12 worked together to bring in 50 boxes of non-perishable food items, including canned vegetables, boxes of stuffing, cans of broth and cream of mushroom soup, fruit juice, and other holiday staples. The $2,103 the kids raised will be given to the St. Joseph Food Shelf to buy turkeys, pies, and other perishable items.
St. Joseph Community Food Shelf coordinator Julie Gravgaard said, “On behalf of the St. Joseph Community Food Shelf, but more importantly, those we serve, I want to thank Saint John’s Preparatory School for hosting an amazing food drive this year. Your students and teachers collected over 50 boxes of food and $2,000 in cash. You filled our shelves, and we purchased our much needed turkeys and Thanksgiving items. Please share our thanks with all who were involved.
“The St. Joseph Community Food Shelf serves children and families, seniors on fixed incomes and veterans in our community. You make it possible to bridge gap between their limited income and their dinner table. Your continued support is vital to our success and we deeply appreciate all of your hard work. Thank you again for making a difference.”
St. John’s Prep has hosted the food drive for 20 years.
