(KNSI) – Samaritan’s Purse is looking to ensure that every child feels thankful this holiday season.
They are asking for shoeboxes filled with small toys, personal items, and school supplies. It’s called Operation Christmas Child and runs until November 20th.
The international effort has delivered more than 209 million shoeboxes worldwide across 170 countries in its history. The goal is to serve 11 million children this year. The organization says creativity is encouraged, and they want the shoeboxes to be fun.
There are premade options where you can buy supplies from the nonprofit or prepare your own. Five drop-off locations are within 25 miles of St. Cloud, including Westwood Community Church and Abounding Joy Lutheran Church. A link to the full list is here.
Samaritan’s Purse President Franklin Graham says, “This season, children around the world need a tangible reminder that there is hope.” He says transforming a simple shoe box into a treasure chest of fun and needed items is the perfect way to show God’s love to a child.
