(KNSI) — The St. Cloud Police Department is warning the public about increased fraud and forgery reports lately.

In just the past week, people have reported phone calls where banking customers are asked for login information, which police say the scammer then uses to access the account. The scammers have the ability to spoof their phone numbers to make it appear as if they are calling from an actual bank.

Police say to be cautious when dealing with phone calls from banks looking to solicit personal information, bank accounts and login codes. If the call seems suspicious, it probably is, and to hang up and call your financial institution directly and never give out personal details over the phone.
