(KNSI) – Central Minnesota can help veterans and families in need eat like a king on Thanksgiving.

The Janel Morgan St. Cloud RE/Max team is collecting blessing baskets for families in District 742 and Eagle’s Healing Nest veterans home in Sauk Centre.

It’s the program’s first year, and Realtor Janel Morgan is shooting for the moon. “I’m a big dreamer. So, the more baskets we get, the more families in our community we can help. And there are a lot of hurting families in our community, and it takes all of us to come together to make a difference.”

Residents are asked to use a laundry basket or something similar to collect traditional Thanksgiving favorites such as cans of cranberries, corn, and green beans along with a box of muffin or biscuit mix, stuffing, mashed potatoes, a jar of gravy, dessert and a $25 gift card for a turkey. They’re encouraging families and friends to put one together and have fun with it.

They are already seeing baskets come in with extras from the heart. “Some people are throwing in soft comfy blankets, or socks, or mittens, or one basket coming in that has a children’s book. Whatever you feel you would like to include in the basket. Feel free to put that in there,” said Morgan.

Baskets will be accepted at the real estate office at 3950 3rd Street North in St. Cloud until November 16th.
