(KNSI) – Two new vehicles are patrolling city streets in Sauk Rapids.
The police department put up photos of the squad cars on Tuesday to Facebook. The post says the average vehicle lasts for a little over 100,000 miles of almost exclusively city driving. They are getting bigger over time as more and more equipment becomes standard for officers while on the job.
In 2019, the department posted about adding a license plate reader to one of its squad cars at the time. It helped to curb stolen vehicles and get them returned to their rightful owners faster.
It all adds up to a lot of wear and tear. The department says the staff takes pride in keeping the vehicles in great shape and running smoothly to get to emergencies quickly.
