Sports Wrap: Pequot Lakes Downs Albany Volleyball in Section Championship

Section 6AA Championship

Pequot Lakes 3, Albany 1 (26-28, 25-19, 25-19, 26-24): The Patriots figure out the Huskies when it matters most, eliminating the last remaining area team one step from the state tournament. Hannah Klein had a match-high 25 kills and 16 digs. Brynn Panek added 14 kills for the Huskies. For Pequot Lakes, Ella Kratochvil paced the squad with over 21 kills. Middle Grace Hoffard dominated at points. She was second on the team in attacking, plus a spectacular defensive effort with seven ace blocks.

Albany finishes 26-4. Brian Hines was named the Section 6AA Coach of the Year. Libero Paige Lauer, setter Ellery Ehresmann, and outside Hannah Klein were named to the All-Section team. All are juniors, and Albany will likely get serious consideration for the top overall team in Class AA in 2024.
