Section 8AAA Championship
(2) Detroit Lakes 3, (1) ROCORI 2 (17-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-21, 15-11): Spartan outside Kate Holthaus was injured late in the fourth set. She led all players with over 20 kills when she was forced to the bench. Outside Grace Gunderson paced the Lakers. Also contributing were Addi Wills and Rylee Johnson. Setter Ava Jones was exceptional in quarterbacking her squad to a hard-fought win.
Section 6AA Semifinals
(1) Albany 3, (4) Melrose 0 (25-23, 25-15, 28-26): It was closer than it appears at first glance. Hannah Klein picked up an incredible 23 kills in only three games. She also had 11 digs, two aces, a couple of set assists, and three ace blocks. Ellery Ehresmann dished out 35 set assists.
(2) Pequot Lakes 3, (3) Sauk Centre 2 (25-23, 23-25, 25-14, 22-25, 15-11)
Albany and Pequot Lakes are ranked second and third in the state and both squads have 26 wins this year. They meet in the section title game Saturday at 3:00 p.m. on KNSI.
