St. Cloud School Raising Money for Spalt Park Improvements

(KNSI) – St. Cloud Christian School has launched a capital campaign to make improvements to nearby Spalt Park.

The small neighborhood facility has few amenities at the moment and a wading pool that has sat unused for years. The school’s interim development director, Bill Corcoran, says the kids already eat lunch or play in the space frequently. If it can raise money for the capital improvements, the relationship between the school and the park would grow thanks to an agreement with city officials.

Corcoran says, “The St. Cloud Christian School will make the capital investment on the improvements in the playground and to remove the pool, and then the school will be able to use that park and playground a little more formally as its green space.”

Corcoran says Spalt Park gets overlooked, but it is a great resource for the students. “The community uses Wilson Park and the bigger regional parks much more these days. The city is investing into those regional parks more heavily. The small community playgrounds and parks just aren’t getting the capital investment that they did years ago.”

Corcoran says in early December, the school will host the St. Cloud Lights Festival to bring attention to the park and help with fundraising.
