(KNSI) – Flags across Minnesota will be at half-staff for the next four days.
Governor Tim Walz has ordered all state buildings to honor the victims of the mass shootings in Lewiston, Maine, on Wednesday evening. Eighteen people died, another 13 were injured, and a person of interest is still on the loose.
The order is in place until sunset on Monday, October 30th. Walz says that the impact from the shooting will echo in the community for years, given the small size of Lewiston. It is about equal to Mankato in population. He added, “My office has offered Maine any resources they need, and Minnesotans offer our heartfelt condolences as Mainers grapple with our country’s latest violent, senseless tragedy.”
Walz encourages businesses, individuals, and organizations to join state and local government facilities in lowering their flags.
