(KNSI) – The St. Cloud Rox Project S.A.V.E. Foundation has been recognized as the Northwoods League Community Program of the Year for the second season in a row. The Rox raised more than $156,000 in 2023.
The foundation began five years ago and has raised thousands of dollars through its 501(c)(3)non-profit. During 2023, S.A.V.E. picked up $21,000 for its scholarship program and the R.B.I. Club for the St. Cloud Area School District. The Reading Books Independently Club provides over 400 elementary school students in grades 3-5 with free books to help incentivize reading at home.
The Fitness Program created a new pilot program for the St. Cloud Area School District that challenged nearly 2,000 students at seven elementary schools to perform a Fitness Activity for 20 minutes each day over three weeks in March. The Mini Golf Corporate Challenge Cup Tournament brought in $15,000 for the Central Minnesota Auto Care Association to help fund a new scholarship program for students advancing their education in the automotive industry.
Sixty-thousand dollars was raised for the foundation through the sporting clays shootout at the Rice Creek Hunting Club in Little Falls, and $5,100 will help build two new baseball fields for the Sauk Rapids-Rice Youth Baseball Association from the Launch-a-Ball events that took place during the Rox Friday night home games.
The foundation benefits youth-related activities involving sports, arts, volunteerism, and education initiatives. It was the first time in league history that such an award was given. All 23 Northwoods League members vote on the award.
In a press release, Rox Managing Partner Scott Schreiner says, “The philanthropy and community engagement throughout the year by the Rox is teamwork at its best for the greater good of our community. It is only possible because of the great fans, corporate partners, and staff.”
