(KNSI) – A Minnesota Congressman is getting ready to throw his hat in the ring for president.
Representative Dean Phillips is expected to announce a bid for the White House on Friday in New Hampshire. The lawmaker stepped down earlier this month from the House Democratic Leadership and said he was considering a move to challenge President Joe Biden in the primary. Friday is the deadline to file for a Presidential run in the state.
Phillips is a three-term Democrat from District Three, which includes the western Minneapolis suburbs. He previously worked for his family’s company Phillips Distilling and other small businesses.
Phillips has been critical of the President’s age. Biden is the oldest serving head of the country at 80 and would be 86 if he completes a second term. Biden is currently facing a primary challenge from self-help author Marianne Williamson.
