(KNSI) — Public hearings will likely be set tonight for a handful of proposals around St. Cloud.

The city is looking to change how it charges residents for road maintenance. The new proposed policy would hire an independent appraiser to look at the entire project and give a range of estimated property value increases for homeowners. The city would use this to send owners a bill that’s less than the projected increase in value.

Landowners may also be assessed for smaller resurfacing projects, which are currently 100% paid for using property taxes. City staff estimates they could complete about 25% more work if a portion of project costs were assigned to land owners.

The city council will also look to set a public hearing on a resolution amending a planned unit development for a 162-unit apartment building along Highway 15 and County Road 74. Since the Planning Commission meeting, the developer submitted a new plan with narrowing drive widths and more green space. The building would have 23 studio, 27 one-bedroom, and 107 two-bedroom apartments.

The public hearings could be set for November 6th. The meeting starts at 6:00 p.m.
