(KNSI) – The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is confirming the identity of the man shot during an attempted arrest in Granite Falls last week.

The agency says 23-year-old Dylan McKaide Anderson-Butler was struck by a bullet once on September 27th. The incident happened as CEE-VI Drug Task Force members tried to pull the man over. He stopped his vehicle, ran from the car, and had what looked to be a gun showing from the waistband of his pants.

Anderson-Butler tried to enter the Granite Falls Cemetery. The BCA is actively investigating what came next, but one of the deputies chasing after Anderson-Butler pulled his taser, and the other fired a shot from his rifle.

The BCA says no one involved had on body cameras, but personnel recovered a handgun and illegal narcotics at the scene. The agency will present its findings without recommendation to the Chippewa County Attorney’s Office, and it will decide whether to bring charges related to the incident.

Anderson-Butler was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center in serious condition but has been discharged and is in police custody. He is expected to make a full recovery.
