(KNSI) – The Minnesota Department of Transportation has an open house scheduled in Milaca on Tuesday, September 26th, to talk about a future Highway 23 project.
The meeting will take place from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Milaca Public School building. MnDOT expects to begin construction on a roughly two-mile stretch in 2027. The expected price tag is nearly $20 million. Orange barrels would run from the Rum River Bridge to 105th Avenue.
The open house is only the first step in developing the project. More input will be gathered over the next three years.
MnDOT wants to add a roundabout at Central Avenue South and take out the stop light there currently. A multi-use trail would run along the north side of the highway and access would be improved near the bridge.
Milaca Public School is located at 500 Highway 23. Guests will be able to talk with project staff and view future construction design layouts. You can arrive and leave at any time during the two-hour meeting window. The event is designed to allow people to drop-in when it is most convenient.
