Minnesota DNR Fall Color Map Shows Expanding Colors Across The State

(KNSI) – The leaves are changing fast, according to the latest Fall Color Finder released by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources on Thursday.

It shows parts of northwestern, west central and east central Minnesota at 50% to 75% of peak color. That includes the trees in Big Stone, Kittson, Marshall, Pennington, Pine, Red Lake, Roseau, and Traverse Counties. Most of the northern two-thirds of Minnesota is between 10% and 50% of peak.

Stearns and Benton County are at 0 to 50% peak. The most color is in the northern parts of the counties. The least amount of change is in the St. Cloud area.

The typical peak color in the state’s northern third is between now and early October. The midsection, including St. Cloud, sees peak color around late September to early October. The southern third usually peaks between late September and mid-October.
